Frozen Frontiers · Skjervøy
Frozen Frontiers takes 12 guests at most out of Skjervøy harbour in an open RIB for about three hours of whale watching. Pick it if you are already in Skjervøy, or plan to be: you can skip the eight hours of coach and just take the boat.

This listing comes in two versions. From Tromsø, a scheduled bus run by a partner drives you about 160 km and four hours to Skjervøy, and you are back by early evening. From Skjervøy, you make your own way to the Prostneset bus, boat and Hurtigruten terminal at Strandveien 92, and the trip is about four hours. Either way the boat part is the same: a 30-minute safety briefing, about three hours of whale watching and a 30-minute break.
The RIB is open and seats 12. You wear an insulated flotation suit (sizes XS to XXL), life jacket, boots and socks, mittens and goggles, and you get a hot drink, a sandwich and a muffin. Guests mention how the skipper treats the animals, and that matters when Visit Tromsø's 2025/26 survey found typically 9 to 14 boats per whale group and most of them within 100 m.
It is a physical trip. The listing excludes children under 14, anyone under 140 cm, pregnant guests, people with back problems, mobility impairments or low fitness, and anyone prone to seasickness. Large bags are not allowed. Breakfast, extra snacks and water are on you. The season on the listing runs October to January, which matches the herring: by early February 2026 the whales had already gone.
